LAFD To Distribute Coronavirus Care Kits To Patients
LAFD will pass out care kits to coronavirus patients living in multi-generational homes to make it easier to self-isolate.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez has teamed up with the Los Angeles Fire Department to aid coronavirus patients in multi-generational homes. LAFD will pass out coronavirus care kits whenever they respond to such residents, looking to make it easier to self-isolate and prevent spreading the virus further.
Rodriguez, who represents the northeast San Fernando Valley, called her district "ground zero for the pandemic."
"Many in this community are essential workers who do not have the luxury or means to stay home or purchase items that protect them," Rodriguez said. "Further adding to the risk, many of these households are multi-generational families living in crowded conditions."

According to her office, over 1,500 kits have been sent throughout her district through collaborations with International Union Local 2015, Olive View UCLA Medical Center, Chicas Moms and People in Action for the Community. The councilwoman hopes her latest partnership will expand reach, and make a more direct impact on the community.
"Firefighters witnessing these circumstances in response to COVID-related calls in the area now have a new resource to leave with families, giving them a fighting chance against the spread of COVID-19," she said.
