Mayor, City Attorney, Controller Candidates to Meet at Saturday Forum

34 Valley neighborhood councils are sponsoring the public Q&A in Studio City.

A public Candidates Forum for the May 21 runoff election for mayor, city attorney and city controller, will be held 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 27, at CBS Studios, 4024 Radford Ave. in Studio City.

The Forum, scheduled for Carla’s Café on the studio lot, will feature mayoral candidates Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel, city attorney candidates Mike Feuer and Carmen Trutanich, and city controller candidates Ron Galperin and Dennis Zine.

The Forum is sponsored by the Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils (VANC), and will be moderated by Dan Schnur, director of the Unruh Institute of Politics at the University of Southern California. He will lead the panel in a discussion of land use and development issues, transportation, budget, the influence of labor in the mayoral  race, and the interaction of city government with neighborhood councils.

“Neighborhood council members were asked to submit questions for the candidates and these will be the focus for questions posed by Schnur to the candidates,” said Jill Banks Barad, founder and chair of VANC. “All of the candidates have confirmed their attendance because it is an opportunity for them to speak to all 34 Valley neighborhood councils at once,” Barad said.

VANC represents more than one-third of the neighborhood councils in the city.
