'Mischievous' Lucifer’s Pizza Opens In Studio City

The eatery serves an eclectic mix of pizzas -- spiced from "zero" to "blazing" -- which will appeal to those who like it hot ... or not.

STUDIO CITY, CA — There's a "devilish," new pizza joint in town, serving up unique pies with a signature sliding scale of spiciness.

Lucifer’s Pizza, with three locations in Greater L.A., opened today at 11266 Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, in a setting that melds Old Hollywood burlesque with a retro, New York City pizza parlor.

Living up to its self-proclaimed, "mischievous, infernal name," the restaurant distinguishes itself with pizzas at spice levels ranging from "zero" to "blazing."

Vegan and vegetarian pizza options, crusts and cheeses, are on the menu, along with such pies as: "Roast Pumpkin and Prosciutto" with roasted garlic, spinach, and mozzarella; "Chicken Basil Pesto" with bacon, sun-dried roma tomato, cashew nuts, and mozzarella; and "Greek Lamb and Rosemary" with caramelized onions, feta cheese, kalamata olives, rosemary and garlic.

The first Lucifer's was opened in 2008 by founder Adam Borich on Hillhurst Avenue in Los Feliz, followed by additional locales in West Hollywood on Melrose Avenue and on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

Borich crafted his first Lucifer's menu with the concept that "the pizza crust" was an empty plate, that he, with input from friends and family, then "filled" with inspiration from favorite childhood meals such as roast lamb on a Sunday night or Thai pumpkin soup — and all at various levels of heat.

Studio City patrons will get to enjoy "The Growler," a pizza offered only at that location and a throwback hit from when Borich first opened his Los Feliz site. Longtime Lucifer’s Pizza fans may recall "The Growler" as a distinct concoction of fresh mozzarella, salmon, arugula, capers, cream cheese and fresh chili .

The 1,800-square-foot Studio City location boasts outdoor seating, plus 46 seats for dine-in customers.

This newest Lucifer's is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Delivery is available within a two-mile radius. Within coming months, the Studio City site will begin serving beer and wine, making it the first Lucifer’s Pizza to offer alcohol. See more here on the eatery and its menu.
