Organizations, Talent and Businesses Sought for National Night Out in PINZ Area for Aug. 6

Free booths for displays are available by the Studio City Neighborhood Council on a planned National Night Out for Tuesday, Aug. 6 on the block of PINZ Bowling Center behind Staples and Bed, Bath & Beyond at Whitsett Avenue and Valleyheart.

Some businesses, community groups, neighborhood watch leaders and representatives from civic groups attended the meeting Tuesday night to discuss ideas for the community event.

"This is a good family event that gives you a chance to meet your neighbors and interact with the police and fire departments," said Brandon Pender, who is heading up the project through the Public Safety committee of the Studio City Neighborhood Council.

The parking lot would be blocked off and there would be a stage and Kid Zone for the evening at the bowling alley at 12655 Ventura Blvd.

People will have to bring their own tables and giveaways.

It will be the 30th anniversary of the community event that brings together police officials and the community. Pender said he will also invite the new city attorney's office and other officials, and he is looking for local talent to perform at the event.
