Rain Showers Expected To Hit Studio City Wednesday

The forecast comes a day after the National Weather Service announced no measurable rain fell in downtown L.A. during February.

STUDIO CITY, CA — There's a good chance rain will be returning to Studio City Wednesday, after a brief preview of spring-like temperatures across Los Angeles. The National Weather Service expects a weak low-pressure storm system to move through Southern California, bringing with it a chance of rain along with snow in the mountain.

According to the National Weather Service, the system will include a "slight chance" of thunderstorms across the southern part of the county Wednesday afternoon.

Forecasters give a 50% chance of showers in Studio City after 10 a.m. Wednesday. That's expected to continue during the day, along with moderate winds ranging from 10-15 mph.

The storm should give way to partly cloudy skies overnight. Wednesday's high will be around 62 degrees, and dip to an overnight low of 46 degrees.

"A storm system on Wednesday will bring light rain across L.A. and Ventura Counties, with locally heavier rain and a slight chance for thunderstorms across the eastern portion of L.A. County in the afternoon," NWS said. "Light snow across the San Gabriel Mountains."

Snow will be possible at elevations of about 5,000 feet, and southeasterly winds will buffet the area, gusting to 40 mph in the mountains. A winter weather advisory will be in effect in the Los Angeles County mountains from 1 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, with forecasters saying 2 to 4 inches of snow could fall, leading to "slippery road conditions."

On Monday, NWS announced that no measurable rain fell in downtown Los Angeles during February 2021, for only the eighth time since rainfall began being recorded in 1877. According to weather service data, February is typically downtown's wettest month.

"In the seven prior occurrences to February 2021, the month of March was always wetter, averaging 1.88" of rainfall for the month," NWS said.

Thursday should bring sunny skies with temperatures around 70 degrees, with an overnight low of 49 degrees. Friday is expected to be warmer, with a high of 76 degrees and an overnight low around 46.
