Red Flag Warning For Studio City Through Christmas Eve

STUDIO CITY, CA — Another red flag warning has been issued for Studio City, indicating an elevated risk of dangerous fires in the region. The warning will last from 8 a.m. Wednesday morning through noon on Christmas Eve.

Forecasts of strong winds and a low relative humidity caused the National Weather Service to issue the warning. NWS advises residents to use "extreme caution" with fire ignition sources, as weather conditions will easily fuel rapid fire spread and extreme behavior.

"Northeast winds increasing rapidly Wednesday morning, peaking Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night at 20 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 55 mph," NWS said. "Strongest winds across the Santa Clarita Valley, eastern Ventura Valleys, and northern San Fernando Valley. Winds gradually diminishing Thursday, especially in the afternoon hours."

A wind advisory was also issued due to the powerful gusts expected. The wind advisory will last from 6 a.m. Wednesday morning through noon on Christmas eve.

Aside from the elevated fire risk, expect another stretch of favorable weather to take us through Christmas. NWS forecasts that Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high of 72 degrees, before dropping to an overnight low of 46 degrees. Thursday will see cloudy skies a high of 68 and a low of 45, while Christmas Day will bring a high of 70 degrees with mostly sunny skies.
