STUDIO CITY, CA — Universal Studios Hollywood kicked off their reopening weekend Thursday, welcoming back Annual and Season Pass Members after a long closure that lasted over a year. After the special park preview, the lot will reopen for all guests Friday.

Park officials said most rides were operational for the reopening, but some attractions will remain shuttered to comply with health restrictions. Face coverings are required for all visitors, physical-distancing measures will be in place and everyone entering the park will have their temperature checked.

The first to arrive were treated with new attractions, including "The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash!" and "Jurassic World - The Ride." The former features "hyper-realistic" renditions of popular characters from the movie series, while Jurassic World features a 22 foot tall dinosaur to inject spine-tingling thrills into your family's bravest challenger.

"We are incredibly thrilled to finally be able to open Universal Studios Hollywood, return team members to work and welcome guests back to enjoy our amazing rides," said Karen Irwin, President & COO, Universal Studios Hollywood. "It has been a very challenging year and we are overjoyed to have arrived at this moment."

The park will be open to California residents only, in keeping with state health rules. As Los Angeles County remains in the red tier, capacity will be limited to 15%, although a possible move to the orange tier could allow capacity to be raised to 25%. Face coverings will be required, and eating and drinking will be allowed only in designated areas.
