We Was Robbed! LA Left Off List Of Most Romantic Restaurants

OpenTable snubs Los Angeles County in list of nation's most romantic restaurants. Seriously? Not even Perch? Or 71Above? Or Bacari?

LOS ANGELES, CA — We here at Patch demand a recount. No Los Angeles County restaurants made it onto OpenTable's annual list of the 100 most romantic restaurants in America.

Clearly, the folks who wrote the list just in time for Valentine's Day have not sipped champagne overlooking the city lights from downtown's 71Above. Or maybe they never held hands underneath the leafy green canopy at Beverly Grove's Bacari W 3RD (they even give you a blanket to snuggle under when it's chilly out!). Maybe they never gazed into each other's eyes while listening to jazz at Norah's in West Hollywood. Clearly they never shared fromage dining fireside at Perch. The list goes on. You get the idea. We was robbed.

So who did make the vaunted OpenTable list of most romantic restaurants in America?

The closest restaurant is Summit House in Fullerton. The hilltop manor restaurant is known for turning out prime rib and yorkshire pudding. It is also a site for weddings and other events.

The list was generated from diner reviews collected between Dec. 1, 2017, and Nov. 30, 2018. All restaurants with a minimum overall score and number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration, according to OpenTable, the leading provider of online restaurant reservations.

The overall score is made up of unique data points, such as overall diner rating, user klout, total number of reviews and regional overall rating. Qualifying restaurants were then scored and sorted according to the percentage of reviews for which romantic was selected as a special feature.

Three other California restaurants made the list -- Le Vallauris in Palm Springs, Wally's Desert Turtle in Rancho Mirage and Cafe Sparrow in Aptos in Santa Cruz County.

"These 100 restaurants excel at setting the table for romance and creating intimate dining experiences at every service," said Caroline Potter, OpenTable's chief dining officer.

"Whether you're celebrating Valentine's Day with a new special someone, a spouse or even a friend, you can count on this list to find not only a restaurant with the right ambiance but also an exceptional meal."
