Wild President's Day Car Chase Ends In Studio City Garage

The driver nearly hit a sitting pedestrian and scraped a city bus during the two-hour ordeal.

STUDIO CITY, CA — A two-hour car chase involving multiple freeways ended in a Studio City parking garage Monday afternoon.

The chase started around 2 p.m. near the 210 Freeway and South Grand Avenue, when a Cadillac Escalade driver refused to pull over after a California Highway Patrol officer instructed him to. The driver took the 210 from Glendora onto the 134 freeway, occasionally reaching over 100 mph according to KCAL9.

At one point in the pursuit, the driver also slammed into a parked car and scraped a city bus according to ABC7.

CHP eventually ended the pursuit out of danger, after the driver pulled off the freeway at Cahuenga Avenue and almost hit a person sitting on the sidewalk. The driver later pulled into a Marshalls parking structure in Studio City, where LAPD officers set up a perimeter at Fruitland Drive and Ventura Boulevard.

The driver was finally arrested by LAPD officers around 4 p.m., according to Officer Stephan Brandt.
