This mesmerizing production had me at hello from the moment I pulled up and was greeted by jolly jovial elves smiling and beaming behind their masks. I knew I was in a for a treat and my expectations were greatly exceeded.
Here are excerpts from an exclusive interview with Jasen Smith, the founder/CEO of Experiential Supply Co., creators behind the WonderLAnd magnum opus as well as Haunt'Oween. Jasen was forthcoming about how his team came up with the clever concept when they were faced with having to start from scratch in March due to the pandemic. He credits his 5 year old daughter with the inspiration behind Haunt-Oween since she was born on that day and he wanted to honor her birthday in a unique and innovative way.

The bar was raised when Jasen and company began to conjure up something comparable for the December holiday season. His motto was, "If you build it, they will come." Jasen indicated that it takes a village, employing 75-150 people from performers to production crew to security to night operators.
According to Jasen, they were motivated first to afford the highest quality aesthetics and second to consider the financial benefits. "If you do good work all the time, in the end you will win."

Jason's true purpose is always "to make a difference and have an impact on people's lives." Since the season of giving began, Jasen has accommodated hundreds of people who are struggling, offering complimentary tickets to local nonprofits such as LA Family Housing.
In the end, Jasen hopes the WonderLAnd experience presents "more than just a special moment with your family, but also an opportunity to feel the communal spirit of Los Angeles and bring a sense of normalcy" during these difficult times.
