$27M Marijuana Grow Operation Busted In Union City: Police

A months-long investigation followed a tip about the major operation.

UNION CITY, CA — Union City police on Tuesday announced the seizure of more than $27 million in marijuana plants, $250,000 in a bank account, and a large amount of cash at an illegal growing operation in the city's industrial area.

The bust resulted from an extended investigation following an anonymous tip the department received in June about the marijuana grow operation off Zwissig Way.

During several months of investigation search warrants were obtained and served for involved locations of the operation and led to one arrest and the seizure of associated bank accounts, police said.
