Allied Waste Service Restored in Fremont and Union City
A "sympathy strike" has ended in Fremont and Union City, according to media reports.

Garbage service has been restored in Union City and Fremont following a second "sympathy strike" in a month, according to a statement posted on the Republic/Allied Waste website Friday.
Workers in both cities stopped working Thursday morning due to an ongoing labor dispute between Teamsters and the waste service company, which is reported to be the second largest in the nation.

The work-stoppage caused service disruptions Thursdays.
According to the company website, Fremont residents who receive Thursday pickup will have waste collected Friday. Friday customers would have their waste picked up by the end of day on Saturday.

For Union City residents, Thursday collections would be picked up Friday, and some Friday collections will also be picked up. Those whose waste isn't picked up by the end of Friday will have their trash collected on their next service day, according to the website.
Union City commercial customers will have their garbage collected Friday and Saturday.
This was the second service disruption this month. Service was also delayed April 4 and 5 for the same reason.
