Apply Now For $5,000 Union City Back Rent Program
Applications opened Monday and are due on March 29.
UNION CITY, CA — Have you fallen behind on rent for your home, apartment, townhouse, or condo because of COVID-19? You may be eligible for a grant of up to $5,000 to pay back rent.
The City of Union City is issuing a second round of Residential Rental Assistance program funding for Union City residents. The program guidelines have been updated to cover three consecutive months of back rent for rental households earning 80 percent of median income ($94,000 for a family of three).
The money will be paid directly to the landlord.

In order to be eligible for Union City Residential Rental Assistance, renters must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a Union City resident
- Job loss or loss of income is directly related to COVID-19
- Lease is in the applicant’s name
- Your landlord must be willing to accept a third party check and complete a W-9 form
- Income at or below 80 percent Area Medium Income. See chart of income levels on the program website.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on March 29.
