Cannon Fire, Helicopter Flyover, BBQ Planned On Veterans Day
Union City is going all-out to dedicate its new Veterans Memorial.

UNION CITY, CA — Veterans Day will take on added meaning - and noise - in Union City on Saturday as the city dedicates a new Veterans Memorial.
The memorial includes a granite column, with each of the six sides representing a different branch of the military – the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Guard.
The column is surrounded by memorial bricks that can be individually dedicated to service women and men.

Saturday's event will include the presentation of colors by the United States Army’s 91st Division, two ceremonial firings from a Howitzer cannon, and a flyover and landing of Vietnam War-era helicopter.
Special guest speakers include Major General Garrett Yee, Congressman Eric Swalwell, event host Supervisor Richard Valle, and Union City Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci.

The event will conclude with a BBQ Lunch served by Alameda County firefighters.
Join the ceremony honoring our nation's veterans at Veterans Memorial Park, 4525 Dyer Street, Union City, 94587, between 10 a.m. and noon.
BRICK PURCHASE INFORMATION
The are 1,200 brick pavers surrounding the monument which are available to be purchased by the community interested in commemorating a loved one who served or serves in the military.
The cost of each brick is $100. Cash, check or credit card payments can only be accepted in person at City Hall located at 34009 Alvarado Niles Road during normal business hours. Please fill out this form and submit to the cashier along with your payment. The City of Union City will not accept group orders.
The City of Union City will biannually coordinate to have the new bricks inscribed on-site.
