Chabot Increases Security After Bomb Threat
A note written on toilet paper Wednesday indicated a bomb threat

Chabot College officials have increased security today after receiving a bomb threat earlier this week.
According to a message sent from Campus Safety director Keith Stiver, campus officers received a note written on toilet paper Wednesday indicating that an attack would occur today — a date shared with the Columbine massacre, which occurred April 20, 1999. The day is also Hitler’s birthday, as well as a cannabis holiday.

Though classes and activities are reduced on weekends, the campus has increased security and has sought additional support from Hayward police.
“It is worthy of note that there have been an increase in unsubstantiated bomb threats in the wake of recent events. While it is prudent to take all such incidents seriously we want to emphasize that the heightened security and our request for increased awareness are precautionary,” Stiver said in his note.
Students are asked to remain vigilant. Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to report it to Campus Safety at 510-723-6923.
