UNION CITY, CA — The Alameda County Coroner was called to the scene of a multi-vehicle traffic accident on Interstate Highway 880 in Union City Thursday evening.
At one point, just one northbound lane was open, prompting a sig-alert by the CHP. Traffic was so bad, the agency asked drivers to use an alternate route. When all lanes were finally cleared, traffic was backed up to Scott Creek Road in Fremont, almost the Milpitas border.
The crash was at Alvarado-Niles Road. It was reported at 4:40 p.m. The sig-alert was canceled at 6:54 p.m.
