Hayward Man Identified as Oakland Murder Victim

Robert Hernandez was one of three people killed in Oakland over the weekend.

OAKLAND, CA - A man shot and killed in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood on Saturday morning was identified Tuesday as Robert Hernandez, a 34-year-old Hayward man, police said.

Hernandez was shot in the 3900 block of International Boulevard at about 4:15 a.m., according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people were killed by gunfire in Oakland on Sunday morning. Lakeya Venson, 30, of Oakland, was shot after she stayed behind at a relative's home in the 9200 block of Sunnyside Street to help clean up after a birthday party. She was standing outside shortly after 1 a.m. when a man opened fire on them and fled in a car, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said. Venson was hit by gunfire and was taken to a hospital, where she died.

She was shot less than an hour after Brian Bole, 30, of Oakland was shot in the 3000 block of Richmond Boulevard, Watson said. He was found suffering gunshot wounds at about 12:15 a.m. and died at the scene, police said.

Police have announced no arrests in either shooting and did not disclose any information about a possible motive.
