Karate-Themed Kids Coding Center Opens in Union City

Newest Code Ninjas Center Open in Union City on July 13 Where Local Children Will Learn to Write Code and Build Video Games

(Code Ninjas)

You’ve probably heard the word coding, but never considered it a second language. The local owners of the new Union City Code Ninjas are working to change that by putting in the time to help teach the next generation valuable problem-solving, math and team building skills all while having a blast. Code Ninjas, a new tech learning center, opened on July 13 at 1772 Decoto Road. Coding is the way of the future and is already considered a second language by the top tech corporations such as Google, IBM and Facebook, and there’s demand by parents who recognize the importance of introducing kids early on to these skills.

The Union City location is co-owned and operated by Bay Area locals Kiran, Srikanth, Shekar and Nihar. After years of experience researching business models and modifying business systems, Kiran began searching for business ownership opportunities himself. While on the search, one of Kiran’s friends introduced him to a business he had opened in 2019, Code Ninjas. After researching the brand, its core values and business model, Kiran decided to take the leap of business ownership with three others. The four owners of the Union City location are more than excited to open their doors, with a grand opening celebration on the horizon.

“Our world is moving toward automation, everything in our lives is becoming ‘smart,’ so why not teach our kids to be ready for the world they’re entering,” said Kiran. “A basic understanding of technology is essential in all industries, so giving our ninjas an in-depth and fun education on computer science will set them up for success in the future. Like our motto boasts, kids have fun while parents see results.”

Union City and Bay Area children ages 5 -14 can look forward to visiting the new Code Ninjas center to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the center also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.

Code Ninjas accomplishes this with a robust, game-based curriculum made up of nine belts, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get immediate help and encouragement from Code Sensei and fellow students as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with little wins along the way, and “Belt-Up” celebrations where they receive color-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a child finishes the program, they will publish an app in an app store.
