'Safe and Sane' Fireworks On Sale this Week in Union City

None of the fireworks are allowed for use outside of the city. Find out where to buy and use fireworks in Union City.

Union City, CA— “Safe and Sane” fireworks will go on sale in Union City beginning on June 28 and revelers are being cautioned to use the fireworks safely.

The only other Alameda County cities that permit fireworks are Newark and Dublin. Dublin officials are urging extreme caution when using them because of the dry conditions and warm temperatures. The sale of the fireworks benefits local non-profits and service organizations.

The City of Dublin released the following guidelines for the use of all fireworks:

1. Individuals under the age of 16 should not light fireworks or model rockets.
2. Fireworks and model rockets should never be lit indoors.
3. Ensure that you are away from dry vegetation, fences, trash or other combustibles that may catch fire.
4. Have a fire extinguisher, hose or other water source available for emergency extinguishment, if necessary.
5. Soak your fireworks in a bucket of water prior to disposal. Used fireworks can catch your trash on fire if you dispose of them without watering them down.
6. Never ignite a firework that has a damaged container or fuse
