Tributes Continue in Honor of Teacher Who Died from Aneurysm

A fellow teacher has created a page for people to register as organ or tissue donors in honor of Sara Husokowski Anderson.

Wendy Rodrigues, a teacher at Hillview Crest Elementary, where Husokowski once taught, has created a Donate Life California webpage for visitors to register as organ or tissue donors. The page can be found at: http://donatelifecalifornia.org/in-memory-of-sara-husokowski/

“The number of people who sign up through this link will be recorded and we will be able to tell Sara's family how many people signed up to donate their organs because of her,” Rodrigues said in a statement. “It only takes a few minutes to fill out the form, and it could make a big difference for others.”

Husokowski herself was an organ donor — a selfless act that served as a testament to her compassion, her husband Edwin Anderson told Patch. “She had one of the most giving, loving hearts on this earth,” Anderson said in a previous interview.

Husokowski, known by her students as “Ms. H,” taught in the New Haven Unified School District for more than nine years. She taught at Searles Elementary School, Hillview Crest Elementary School and Cesar Chavez Middle School. She was on maternity leave for the fall but planned to return to work at Alvarado Elementary School, according to the district.

She leaves behind her husband and their son, William, who was only 7-weeks old at the time of her passing.

Friend Jan Greaney, a Searles classroom assistant, is also organizing a memory book for William, tentatively titled, “Your Mom Was Amazing.”

Colleagues, friends, former students and their families are encouraged to contribute to the book. Stories, photographs and artwork can be submitted on an 8-and-a-half inch by 11-inch page by email to JGreaney@nhusd.k12.ca.us or snail mail at 35045 Lilac Loop, Union City, 94587.

A zumba fundraiser will also be held in Husokowski’s honor on Nov. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Holly Community Center, located at 31600 Alvarado Blvd. in Union City.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Participants who bring a pack of diapers (size 2 or larger), baby outfits (size 6 or larger), or a baby toy (appropriate for 3 months or older) will be entered into a raffle. To purchase tickets or for more information, email Leticia Najera at lettysarmy@gmail.com.

Those who can’t contribute to the book or attend the zumba event but still wish to help can make monetary donations to William’s online memorial fund at www.raisewilliam.com.
