Union City 911 Now Accepts Text Messages
The option is for those who are deaf, hearing or speech impaired, or are in situations where it is too dangerous to make a voice call.
UNION CITY, CA — The Alameda County Regional Emergency Communications Center as of Monday has joined many other agencies in the region in offering the option of sending text messages to 911.
The communications center, a division of the Alameda County Fire Department, is giving the option for those who are deaf, hearing or speech impaired, or are in situations where it is too dangerous to make a voice call to 911.
The center serves the cities of Alameda, Dublin, Emeryville, Fremont, Livermore, Newark, Pleasanton, San Leandro, Union City, and various unincorporated communities.
