Union City's Mizuho OSI Recognized For Innovation And Leadership

UNION CITY, CA — Mizuho OSI, the Union City-based manufacturer of speciality surgical tables and patient care kits, was recently recognized for its innovative practices and exemplary leadership by the California Council for Excellence, the company announced.

Mizuho OSI received the California Awards for Performance Excellence (CAPE) 2020 Prospector Recognition. The annual award goes to a company that exhibits sustainable excellence through innovation, continuous improvement, and visionary leadership, according to a news release.

The honor was presented to Mizuho OSI executives following a rigorous, three-month company review process led by CAPE examiners and overseen by a CAPE board of judges, the company said. CAPE was founded in 1992 and is a not-for-profit organization aimed at helping California-based companies achieve world-class results.

“At Mizuho OSI we like to say that innovation is in our DNA. And it is not only about the products we design for the market but also in how we sell, manufacture, and support these products with our customers,” the company said of the honor in a statement. “We have chosen the Baldrige Criteria as our standard of excellence for our company and are very proud to receive this recognition early in our journey.”

The company’s mission is to improve outcomes for patients undergoing surgery since the company’s founding in the Bay Area in 1978. The company has worked to push the boundaries of a better surgical experience by collaborating with surgeons and healthcare providers to understand today’s surgical needs, uncover problems and inefficiencies in the operating room and develop products that simplify procedures, improve precision, reduce risk and improve outcomes, the company said in a news release.
