Weekend Ski, Surf and Weather Report

Some coastal fog expected this weekend.

Snow Report:

Big Bear Mountain has not received any new snow this week.  The last day of the ski season will be Sunday. The condition on the open runs is "good" and the snow depth is 12-24 inches, according to the resort snow report. High temperatures are expected to be in the mid 50s on Saturday and Sunday and the weather will be sunny. 

Mammoth Mountain has also not received any new snow this week. The snow depth on the slopes is about 72 inches at the base and only one lift is closed on the mountain. The high is expected to be in the 40s. Both days will see sunny skies.

Saturday will see patchy fog along the coast with a high of 74 degrees and a low of 58. Sunday will be sunny with a high of 75 and a low of 55. Winds are expected to be in the 5-10 mph range on both Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

 

Los Angeles County surf report:

A long-period southern hemi swell is hitting the area and sets are expected to be in shoulder-high range on both Saturday and Sunday, with some spots seeing head high waves. 

The attached map is a water quality report for beaches in dry weather from March 3 to April 3 compiled from data courtesy of Heal the Bay, a nonprofit environmental group. Beach grades are based on an A+ to F scale. Grades indicate the likelihood of swimmers becoming ill. Water samples are analyzed for bacteria – enterococcus, total and fecal coliforms. The report does not measure the amount of trash or toxins found at local beaches.

Dark Blue Marker = A+

Light Blue Marker = A

Green Marker = B

Yellow Marker = C

Pink = D

Red Marker = F

Purple Marker = No sample taken
