Boy and Girl Return Home After Two Days Missing

A 12-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy last seen near Mark Twain Middle School Saturday returned to their frantic families Monday night.

The 14-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl who who went missing area over the weekend walked into the girl’s home tonight, apparently safe and sound, a police sergeant said.

Timothy Jacob Reed and Ashley Montes walked to Montes’ home at about 9 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Patricia Suarez.

“Both are in custody, which only means we have our hands on them,” Suarez said. “Juvenile detectives will interview them to find out where they were and if they were the victims of crimes.”

The boy and girl are friends who had last been seen together around 4 p.m. Saturday near Mark Twain Middle School, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.

They apparently said they were planning to take a bus to Venice Beach, Lopez said.
