Community To Mourn Westside LAPD Officer
Esmeralda Ramirez, a Westside officer and mother of three, died following surgery stemming from an on-duty crash. Her Funeral is Wednesday.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Funeral services will be held Wednesday for a Los Angeles Police Department officer who died following surgery related to injuries she suffered in an on-duty traffic collision four years ago.
Esmeralda Ramirez died Sunday. She was 49.
"She passed away over the weekend after a surgery related to an on- duty traffic collision that occurred in 2015," according to the LAPD. "She joined the department in 2008 and was a valued member of Pacific Division, where she worked in a variety of assignments. Her commitment to her follow officers and this department is only eclipsed by the love she had for her family."

Police said Ramirez was driving a patrol car when it was struck by another vehicle.
Ramirez is survived by her three adult children.

Services for Ramirez will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive.
Ramirez was the 210th LAPD officer to die in the line of duty.
