Firefighters Knock Down Commercial Building Fire In Venice

Firefighters quickly extinguished flames at a commercial building fire in Venice early Thursday.

VENICE, CA — Firefighters needed 23 minutes Thursday morning to extinguish a fire in a 100-foot-by-150-foot businesses in a two-story commercial building in Venice.

Crews responded to 2321 Abbot Kinney Blvd., near Venice Boulevard, at 12:25 a.m. and found a contents fire in the first-floor kitchen area of a cafe that led to heavy smoke, but no fire, on the upper floor, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The address corresponds to the French Market Cafe.

A knockdown was called at 12:48 a.m., Humphrey said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
