Man Arrested In Connection With Tent Killing In Venice Beach
A 38-year-old Venice man was arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said.
VENICE, CA — A 38-year-old Venice man was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with killing a man inside a tent on the boardwalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A victim was found dead at a homeless encampment Friday with blunt force trauma to his head near the area of Ocean Front Walk and Dudley Avenue about 3:20 p.m. Friday, police said.
"The investigation revealed someone heard yelling and possibly a fight in the early morning hours," police said.

"Later in the day they noticed that the tent was collapsed," police said. "The 911 caller checked the tent and found the victim dead. The victim had an ongoing dispute with the suspect and another homeless person."
Michael McClain, 38, of Venice, was detained near 3rd and Sunset avenues at another homeless encampment about 5:53 p.m. Friday, police said.

LAPD West Homicide detectives describe the victim as in his 40s and possibly homeless. His name was not released.
