Man Pleads Not Guilty in Restaurant Worker's Stabbing Death

A Los Angeles man pleaded not guilty today to a murder charge stemming from the stabbing death of a man who was found near the Venice restaurant where he worked.

Jorge Nolasco, 23, is charged with killing Guillermo Carmona-Perez, who was found about 12:15 a.m. last Nov. 18 at Pacific Avenue and Washington Boulevard. The 24-year-old man died at a hospital.

Carmona-Perez, who lived in Venice, worked as a prep and line cook at Mercedes Grill, a restaurant and bar near where he was found, and also held a second job at Baja Cantina.

Nolasco, who was arrested Jan. 7, was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $1 million bail while awaiting his next appearance Feb. 25 at the Airport Branch Courthouse in Los Angeles.
