Mar Vista Resident Celebrates on Ice with Kings

Bob Halfacre, a lifelong Mar Vista resident and an equipment staffer with the Los Angeles Kings, celebrates the team's first NHL title on the ice after the historic win.

A Mar Vista resident who has been a Los Angeles Kings fan since he was a 5-year-old boy was on the ice Monday night at the Staples Center after the team won its first Stanley Cup with a blowout win in Game Six of the NHL Finals.

Bob Halfacre has worked for and with the Kings for more than 25 years as an equipment staffer and as a provider of customized jerseys from his company, Bobcat Athletic.

Halfacre, 49, is shown in the attached photograph next to Kings coach Darryl Sutter on the ice after the win.

Halfacre was a Kings fan while attending Beethoven Elementary, Mark Twain Middle School, Venice High School and the University of Southern California. His parents also were Kings fans.

Halfacre has been on the bench at every game and his long-awaited dream of drinking champagne from the Stanley Cup has finally come true.
