Report of Shots Fired Prompts Police Helicopter Over Venice

A police helicopter is dispatched to Venice after reports of possible shots fired.

A police helicopter was dispatched over Venice on Tuesday night after there were reports of possible shots fired, police said.

The incident was reported about 7:45 p.m. at the intersection of Mildred and Riviera avenues, said Officer Karen Rayner, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

A perimeter was set up around the area with Mildred Avenue closed off from Dell Avenue toward Pacific Avenue and officers stationed along North Venice Boulevard. Police could be heard over a public address system cautioning residents in the 300 block of Mildred Avenue to come out onto the street and approach officers.

Officers investigating the report of shots fired saw one man running from a resident and he was chased and apprehended. The other occupants of the house were ordered out to check their well being and for questioning, police said.

The police helicopter left the area about 8:45 p.m.
