'Robocop' Writer Michael Miner’s Photography on Display in Venice

The G2 Gallery is currently hosting a new exhibition featuring black and white photography from Michael Miner, co-writer of the cult classic and critically acclaimed 1987 smash-hit Robocop and the reboot, slated for release in February 2014.

Miner shot most of his detailed images of misty shores and twisted forests on the West Coast, though they forgo iconic vistas and easily recognizable landmarks. He captured the stark black and white photographs with a focus on mood and story.

“A still photograph must be simultaneously unfamiliar, illuminating and classical,” Miner said in an official release. “As a storyteller, narrative content inevitably animates my images.”

Miner is the recipient of two Merit Awards from Black and White Magazine, and the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, California selected six of his images for several juried exhibitions. The National Park Service chose Miner as their artist-in-residence in 2010, affording him many photographic opportunities during his month-long stay. He was recently selected once again as an artist-in-residence for 2014.
