Surfing Cowboys Reopens in Mar Vista

Surfing Cowboys, the beach culture store that moved after 17 years on Abbot Kinney Boulevard because of increased rent, opened in Mar Vista on Monday.

The store is located at 12553 Venice Blvd. in a bright shopfront on the corner of Wasatch Avenue.

Thanks to the bigger space, Surfing Cowboys can now house more furniture and larger items compared to the old location, owner Wayne Gunther said.

Although Surfing Cowboys will still sell a lot of vintage clothes, it now can make room for more surfboards, vintage chimeneas and furniture. 

Gunther said that once they are a bit more settled into the new location, they will start hosting evening parties, but currently there are no immediate plans
