Suspect Headbutts Cop During Group Fight On Venice Boardwalk

A suspect headbutted a Los Angeles police officer in the face during an arrest on the boardwalk Sunday night, where a group fight broke out.

VENICE, CA — A suspect headbutted a police officer Sunday night on the boardwalk while officers tried to break up a group fight and take a suspect into custody, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The incident happened about 7 p.m. near 800 Ocean Front Walk, police said. More than 20 officers were called to the area to back up the officer during the arrest, with a long line of patrol cars lining the streets nearby.

It's unclear why the fight broke out.

"Policing can be dangerous and I'm proud of my officers for resolving this without any serious injury," Los Angeles Police Lt. Ensley of the Pacific Division tweeted.
