Woman Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Malibu

A Santa Monica woman is being investigated for a felony hit-and-run that killed a tow-truck driver on Monday at about 9 p.m. on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

The woman, identified as 44-year-old Jill Rose, slammed her Audi into the tow-truck driver, Ronald Carver, 45, as he was helping a stranded motorist, according to KTLA.

Carver was declared dead at the scene, according to Lt. Robert Wiard of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Rose then continued further south on PCH until she crashed into a parked car. The incident is being investigated as a felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Wiard said. 

"She was treated for injuries," Wiard said.

Rose was taken to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition with a brain hemorrhage, according to KTLA. She is expected to survive.
