Wind Gusts Strongest Near Beaches, Could Knock Down Trees & Power
Strong wind gusts are picking up along Los Angeles beaches, according to the National Weather Service.

VENICE, CA — Strong winds are ripping across Los Angeles beaches, with wind gusts causing trees to fall and potential power outages, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.
A wind advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. Thursday along the Los Angeles and Ventura Coast, with southwest winds hitting 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph, the NWS reports. The strongest winds are expected near the beaches.
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," the agency reports. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."

Drivers are urged to use extra caution, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. People are encouraged to secure outdoor objects before they blow away.
Gusty winds could also prompt choppy sea conditions, the NWS reports. Inexperienced mariners should stay in harbor and beaches will be windy with blowing sand, officials said.
