Construction to Begin Friday on Walnut Creek Affordable Housing

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Construction is scheduled to officially begin this Friday on Riviera Family Apartments in Walnut Creek. The 56-58 affordable units are the first in Contra Costa County to use cap-and-trade funds.
The apartments will be near the BART station.
A groundbreaking and reception will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m.at 1515 Riviera Avenue. City, county and state dignitaries will be in attendance led by Mayor Loella Haskew.

The Riviera Family Apartments will serve households that earn 30 to 60 percent of Area Median Income (AMI). The complex will include studios, 1- , 2- and 3-bedrooms apartments, a community room, computer room for residents, and a laundry room.
A completion date for the apartments has not been determined.
