2 Killed In Santa Cruz County Car Crash

The cause of the Sunday night crash remains under investigation, CHP said.

CORRALITOS, CA — Two men died and a woman suffered major injuries Sunday night in a head-on crash near Corralitos in Santa Cruz County.

The two-car collision was reported on Corralitos Road south of Varni Road at about 8:30 p.m., when a 2003 Ford Mustang was headed south at high speeds, the California Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the Ford lost control of the car and veered into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a 1998 Honda Accord, the CHP said.

Two men in the Ford died at the scene. The driver was a 33-year-old man from Freedom, an unincorporated area near Watsonville. The passenger was not identified. A 32-year-old woman driving the Honda was taken to a trauma center with major injuries, the CHP said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as contributing factors, the CHP said.
