38 Vehicles Hit By Projectiles In Prunedale, Public's Help Sought

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — The help of the public is being sought in finding the person or people responsible for 38 reported incidents since February of objects striking vehicles on state Route 156 and U.S. Highway 101 in the area of unincorporated Prunedale, the Monterey Area office of the California Highway Patrol said.

Five people suffered minor injuries from shattered glass, though to date there have been no traffic collisions related to the incidents, the CHP said. The office said the driver's side window was struck "by a high velocity projectile" in all of the incidents.

"The CHP has investigated each of these incidents, but due to their random nature we have not been able to identify a suspect or suspects," said CHP Monterey Area commander Capt. Kyle Foster. "We are asking the public to remain vigilant but to also report any suspicious behavior or provide us with any information they may have regarding suspects. The safety of the public is our highest priority."
