Why Go: Cheer on local law enforcement as they race around the dirt track at Ocean Speedway, a benefit for Soquel teen Gavin Jack. Gavin, the son of a sheriff's deputy, who is awaiting a heart transplant.
Cost:  Adults – $17; Seniors – $16 (over 65); Kids – $13 (6 – 12 years old); Family – $55 (2 adults & 2 kids)

Where:Â Props Restaurant and Lounge, Watsonville Airport
Why Go:  Props is hosting Orion Telescopes & Binoculars for a Moon Viewing Party. This family event is geared towards amateurs and beginning stargazers. Orion’s expert astronomers will be on hand with a few of their telescopes and binoculars, ready to answer questions and teach folks how to use their equipment.

California Grill Cancer Benefit
When: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday
Where: Â California Grill, 1970 Freedom Blvd., Watsonville
Why Go:  All day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, every penny spent by customers will go directly to Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services and the Katz Cancer Resource Center.
Cost: Â Price of your meal
Oktoberfest & Benefit Concert with Grind Out Hunger
When: Â 3-6 p.m. Saturday
Where:Â Palm Deli, Aptos
Why Go:  Seven kid bands will perform at this Oktoberfest event and home-brewed root beer, sausages, and micro-brews will be provided. Proceeds to this benefit concert support the “Be Natural Scholarship Foundation,’which provides financial assistance to kids in the music program and ‘Grind Out Hunger. ‘  Raffle tickets are available at: http://benaturalmusicsantacruz.com/2013/09/oktoberfest-oct-12/
