All Lanes Of Northbound U.S. 101 Reopened With CHP Escort
Highway 101 closed Wednesday night due to flooding, but reopened early Thursday morning.
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Northbound U.S. Highway 101 in unincorporated Monterey County has reopened early Thursday morning after flooding forced a full closure of both directions on Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Flooding from near the unincorporated community of Chualar shutdown the freeway at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the CHP said.
The northbound lanes reopened with motorists being escorted by the CHP at about 12:10 a.m. Thursday, according to the CHP. The southbound lanes were open again at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A flood advisory for Chualar and the nearby community of Gonzales expired at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Chualar is a community about 12 miles southeast of Salinas, while Gonzales is about 18 miles southeast of Salinas, also along Highway 101.
