Jan Davison, the City of Watsonville’s Redevelopment and Housing Director, has announced that she will be leaving the City and moving to Southern California effective November 1st, 2013.
Davison worked part-time for the City for the past three years. She will continue to work for the City on a limited basis as a consultant overseeing the dissolution of the Redevelopment Agency. Davison previously worked for the City from 1998 – 2005.
City Manager Carlos Palacios stated, “Ms. Davison has been a life-saver for the City in agreeing to work for us overseeing the Dissolution of the Redevelopment Agency required by State law. I can’t thank her enough. Her service to the Watsonville community has been of great value.”

Palacios also said he will not be filing Davison’s position upon her departure. Rather, as a budget-saving move, the Redevelopment and Housing Department will be merged with the Community Development Department under the leadership of Assistant City Manager/Community Development Director Marcela Tavantzis.
“Merging the two departments and eliminating the Redevelopment and Housing Director position will result in savings to the city and will further reduce our management staff," Palacios said. "I would personally like to thank and express my gratefulness to Marcela Tavantzis for agreeing to take on this new responsibility. We continue to do more with less in the City of Watsonville while continuing to provide excellent service to our community.”
