Earthquake Near Aromas Rattles Northern California

The quake was reported at 8:01 p.m. Did YOU feel it?

AROMAS, CA— An earthquake struck Saturday evening in Northern California.

The 4.2-magnitude quake hit at 8:01 p.m. about 2.5 miles southeast of Aromas, a census-designated place in Monterey and San Benito counties, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

People reported feeling the quake across the Greater Bay Area, including in Berkeley, Fremont, Pleasanton, San Francisco, San Jose and Santa Cruz.

The quake was followed by a 3.0-magnitude aftershock at 8:06 p.m. in the same area, according to the USGS.

No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
