It's Compost Time!

It’s compost time!

The City now has a composting program for residents who want to compost at home.
Residents can qualify for a compost bin by following these steps:

1. Attend a 15-minute drop-in workshop at the City’s Nature Center on any Saturday from 11:00am - 4:00pm to learn how to compost properly.

2. Mail or drop-off your signed workshop voucher as proof to the City’s Customer Service office along with $10 to order your new compost bin.

3. Compost bin will be delivered within a few days after the order is placed.

4. Start composting! If you need help, visit or call the Nature Center.

Yard waste is equally important yet separate from your home’s compost. If you are using the City’s yard waste collection service, please remember that only leaves, branches, weeds, grasses, and trimmings go inside your cart. Yard waste is processed into mulch, but becomes unusable when it contains garbage, and must go to the landfill. By following these guidelines, you can prevent yard waste contamination and a possible fine:

• No recyclables, garbage, or food scraps should go in the yard waste cart.
• Place yard waste directly into cart and do not use plastic bags.
• Animal waste always belongs in the garbage.

The City’s curbside yard waste collection is free to residents as long as it is used properly. For more information, please contact:
