A city spokesperson told Patch Watsonville allows the sale of "safe and sane" fireworks, meaning anything sold in a firework booth in the city has a lower risk of injury or fire.

The spokesperson said the city is creating campaigns educating residents on how to have safe and healthy gatherings during July 4th and throughout the summer.
