Man Killed in Gilroy Crash Identified
The man was gravely injured on Sept. 4 and died three days later.

A 57-year-old man who died of his injuries from a hit-and-run collision in Gilroy earlier this month has been identified as Salvador Briseno Gonzales, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.
Around 11 p.m. on Sept. 4, officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run between a vehicle and pedestrian on Church Street and Gurries Drive, just north of First Street, police said.
Arriving officers found a man, later identified as Briseno Gonzales, lying on the roadway unconscious and with major trauma, according to police. He was airlifted to a trauma center where he underwent surgery, police said.

Gonzales succumbed to his injuries on Sept. 7, according to the medical examiner’s office. Witnesses told police they saw a white small- to mid-sized SUV flee the scene north on Church Street, according to police.
