Officials Call On Artists To Submit Designs For County Flag

County officials are inviting designs embodying the history and color of Monterey County.

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA — Monterey County officials are calling on all artists in the area to submit designs for the first-ever official county flag by the end of the month, according to a statement sent out this week by the county's office of community engagement and strategic advocacy.

County officials are inviting designs embodying the history of Monterey County, color schemes and elements from various parts of the county such as historical landmarks, local wildlife or natural elements like
coastlines or mountain ranges.

The design that is chosen could make Monterey County the 25th county out of all 58 counties in the state to adopt an official flag, joining San Benito and Santa Clara counties, county officials said.
Artists submitting a design must live in the county, according to the statement.
