Pajaro Valley Unified Schools Board: Election Results

Watsonville-area voters decided who should represent residents of Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board areas 3 and 6.

WATSONVILLE, CA — The polls have closed, and voters in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties have cast ballots to decide who will represent Governing Board Trustee Areas 3 and 6 on the Pajaro Valley Unified School District board.

Area 3

Two fresh faces competed for the seat vacated by longtime trustee Karen Osmundson, who is retiring after 16 years of service to the district, The Pajaronian reported. The district covers the area encompassing southwestern Watsonville to the coastline and northern Monterey County.

Oscar Soto, safety inspector and father, was in the lead Wednesday morning after a neck-and-neck race Tuesday. He received a total of 1,244 votes, including 247 in Santa Cruz County and 997 in Monterey County.

Amanda Hernandez, patient care technician, received a total of 1,229 votes, including 297 votes in Santa Cruz County and 932 in Monterey County.

Area 6

Incumbent Maria R. Orozco maintained her lead Tuesday over challenger and environmental advocate Adam Bolaños Scow in the race to represent area 6, which encompasses the Freedom area.

Orozco received 59% of the vote (2,794 votes), while Bolaños Scow received 41% (1,981 votes), with all precincts reported.
