Police Blotter: Purse Thief Nabs Handbag with $1,800 Cash

Highlights: An unoccupied van was shot Saturday night, the serial 9-1-1 caller is still dialing his favorite number, and crates of pirated DVDs and CDs were recovered.

Monday, Sept. 2
Battery Against an Elderly Person: A man punched an elderly man in the face several times and threw a object at the windshield of the older man's car, damaging it. The younger man was arrested. It happened on the 1200 block of Main Street around 9:40 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 1
Shooting: An unoccupied van was shot on Bridge and Roble streets overnight. No injures were reported.

Counterfeiting: Two crates of pirated DVDs and music CDs were found at a location on the 1200 block of Main Street.

Assault: Police investigated an assault case on the 100 block of Ford Street around 5:30 p.m. Two men, ages 36 and 27, were arrested. 

Drugs: A metro security guard spotted a 33-year-old man with drugs in a bus station bathroom around 5:45 p.m. The security guard reportedly found methamphetamine and a meth pipe on the man, handcuffed him and waited for police. 

Battery and Threats: A man punched, pushed, then ripped the shirt off another man because he wouldn't open the garage door of their Riverside Drive apartment. The attacker, age 30, was arrested. 

Theft: A teen was caught stealing from a business on the 1700 block of Freedom Boulevard. 

DUI: A man was arrested for drunken driving on the 1900 block of Freedom Boulevard around 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 31
Vandalism: A car was keyed on the 300 block of San Luis Avenue overnight. 
Drunk in Public: A man was arrested on the 1400 block of Main Street just before 2 p.m.

Counterfeiting: A diner paid for his meal at a restaurant on the 1100 block of South Green Valley Road with a fake $20 bill. 

Misuse of 9-1-1: Nathan Jarvie is at it again. He just can't stop calling 9-1-1.   

Friday, Aug. 30
Vandalism: A side window of a car was broken on Lincoln and Elm streets overnight. 

Theft: A man was arrested on the 1000 block of Main Street around 1:20 p.m.

Robbery: A woman said a man offered her a ride home after she cashed a check but then he threatened to strangle her if she didn't hand over her money. It happened on the 100 block of Carr Street just before 2 p.m. 

Trespassing: A woman went on a Freedom Boulevard property she was banned from. She was gone when police arrived. 

Theft: A man was arrested for stealing a purse containing $1,800 cash from a vehicle on Menker Street.

DUI: A man was arrested for DUI on the 400 block of East Lake Avenue around 8:30 p.m. His blood-alcohol level neared 0.30. 

Forgery: A thief withdrew money from a Watsonville woman's bank account.
