PVUSD Board Races: Fresh Blood And Familiar Faces Compete

Watsonville-area voters will decide who should represent residents of Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board area 3 and 6.

WATSONVILLE, CA — Voters in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties are casting ballots to decide who will represent Governing Board Trustee Areas 3 and 6 on the Pajaro Valley Unified School District board.

Area 3

Two fresh faces will compete for the seat vacated by longtime trustee Karen Osmundson, who is retiring after 16 years of service to the district, The Pajaronian reported.

Amanda Hernandez, patient care technician, and Oscar Soto, safety inspector and father, are running to serve area 3, which covers the area encompassing southwestern Watsonville to the coastline and northern Monterey County.

Area 6

Incumbent Maria R. Orozco is seeking to fend off challenger and environmental advocate Adam Bolaños Scow in the race to represent area 6, which encompasses the Freedom area.

There are 171,000 registered voters in Santa Cruz County, including some 101,000 Democrats, 37,000 nonpartisans and 24,000 Republicans.
