Rincon Fire In Santa Cruz County Now 65% Contained
Highway 9 reopened Tuesday evening as crews continue to fight the blaze.

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA -- A blaze that erupted in Santa Cruz County over the weekend, prompting a two-day closure of Highway 9, was 65 percent contained as of Tuesday evening.
The fire, which erupted Saturday night north of Paradise Park, burned 17 acres of heavy timber and slash, according to Cal Fire. More than 200 personnel were called to battle the blaze, which officials said would take several days to mop up and patrol because of the limited fire history in the area.
